BEYOND EDEN ART FAIR.
I was invited to live paint at the Beyond Eden Art Fair this past saturday. I had a great time , I met some really nice people and the Los Angeles art museum was really peaceful and a great place to paint. I kind of wish I could go there from time to time to paint alone on the grounds....But I guess one night is better than nothing .

THE LIBRARY
There is something about the library, The smell of the old books, the tables that seem to be the perfect place to sit and let your head sink into the memory of youth, like a nice chair and an old reading lamp in a quiet room on a cold night. . I always looked forward to finding a new one in any town I lived in. It is almost a place of refuge for a person like me , the thought of walking in the school hallways after every student has gone home is the best way to describe how I see them. Anyway, I decided to post these little drawings that I did in the studio city library I have been going to.

A true veteran of the UK electronic scene, Luke Vibert has, in the
last few years, finally gained the recognition he deserves. His
first dispatches saw him go from the ambient textures of his debut
album as Wagon Christ to a much more acute and varied sound,
infused with hip hop, soul, electro, techno, acid house and
drum'n'bass. Distilled under a variety of pseudonyms (Wagon Christ,
Plug, Kerrier District, Amen Andrews, Spac Hand Luke to name but a
few) these have progressively become the staple diet for his fans.
Yet, it took for the man to focus on one of his until-then somewhat
overlooked strengths, acid, with his monumental YosepH (Warp, 2003)
for the world, or at least electronic followers, to finally take
stock and listen, now he's back to his hip hop roots using samples
from soul,jazz and reggae, Enjoy!.
EDWIN USHIRO !!!!

The following is from a teaser of Edwin Ushiro's upcoming show at the gallery via DailyduJour:
"Dailydujour recently caught up with Edwin Ushiro as he was prepping one of his larger pieces for his upcoming ‘Softly Encompassing the Womb’ solo which opens September 12th (7-10 PM) @ Lebasse Projects in Culver City. Edwin’s work has an ethereal quality which is accentuated by his intricate process he’s developed on his own through experimentation. We’re not going to try to fully explain all the nuances, but the basics are that he creates several smaller pieces on transfer paper (used for their transparency which lets light flow through the work) which he then aligns into a larger piece by adhering them to a clear sheet of vinyl. That’s what you see in the picture above and the others after the jump.
As you can see, it’s not for the faint of heart. Take a basically complete piece and then apply heavy amounts of varnish (also acts as an adhesive) and sandwich between a layer of vinyl. Then, patiently and meticulously roll and squeegee out bubbles. As you can imagine Edwin’s had some less than stellar results in the early stages of using this process, but he seemed perfectly calm today."

SOLO IN LONDON !
NOTHING GOLD CAN STAY is the first European solo show by Los Angeles, USA based artist Scott Belcastro. Scott Belcastro’s paintings are a meticulous study of endless landscapes and skies; a struggle between illustration and abstract expressionism, telling stories of inner silence, loneliness and the search for something larger within ourselves. The paintings are a reflection of the artist’s childhood memories, growing up in the immense countryside of upstate New York. Scott Belcastro endeavors to inspire and nurture our interest in nature and awaken the beauty found in the transformation of our environments. Becoming part of this natural change is akin to immersing ourselves into a golden moment in time. To attend the online preview or private reception at London Miles Gallery on September 17th, please R.S.V.P to Sales@Londonmiles.com

" LIKE THE OCEAN "
Acrylic on panel. 24 x 24 2009.
I was in New York for a couple of months and I would go out into the fields and look at all the trees and forests and I would think to myself this is like looking at the ocean . Its amazing how beautiful things have a way of silencing you but then give you enough words after to explain what you think you have seen.
